Next session of the LATTS seminar (February 26, 2:15 p.m.)

This session will focus on the book:
Gilles Jeannot and Simon Cottin-Marx,
La privatisation numérique (Digital Privatization), Raison d’agir, 2022
Discussant: Antoine Courmont

Digital privatization seems to take the gentle form of "apps" that improve everyday life and are like a new public service. However, its social effects are considerable: it allows interference between the offerings of global economic actors and localized public policies. Public authorities have been able to respond by mimicking this, particularly with the slogan of the platform state. Attempts to reclaim digital commons also open up alternatives, notably in the form of activism by civil servants. This book presents the different configurations of these interferences, their economic and social consequences, and the prospects for resistance and reinvention of public services.
