The laboratory welcomes researchers and research lecturers through:

• National competitive examinations (CNRS, Ministry for Ecological Transition – École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, Gustave Eiffel University);
• Professional mobility schemes (secondments, transfers, etc.).

CNRS Competitive examinations

For the CNRS competitive examinations, the laboratory invites candidates sitting the CNRS examinations (sections 39, 42, 43, CID 52 and CID 53) who wish to receive its support to contact the laboratory director, Ludovic Halbert, by emailing:

Our laboratory offers support to candidates, organised in two stages:

Review of applications : Each application is reviewed by the laboratory’s advisory board to assess how well the candidate’s research proposal aligns with the laboratory’s scientific programme. A letter of support is then issued for successful candidates.

Preparing for the audition : Candidates who are eligible for the interview and who have expressed a wish to be assigned to the laboratory (meaning that they want to join it) are entitled to:

• Personalised support (discussions with members of the laboratory) to help them prepare their presentation;
• A mock audition.

Gustave Eiffel University

For the UGE recruitment competitions, the laboratory is inviting applications for the following posts:

Every year, the laboratory welcomes new PhD students on PhD contracts funded by:

• PhD grants from the ENPC or the UGE;
• CIFRE contracts;
• Public or private funding.

Please note: The laboratory does not accept PhD students without funding, except in exceptional circumstances.

The internal status of ‘associate researcher’ or ‘associate member’ is intended for individuals involved in the scientific activities of the LATTS.

Eligibility criteria and membership procedures:

This status is granted, by decision of the Management and following consultation with the laboratory council, for a period of one academic year, renewable, to:

1. Researchers, lecturers and researchers, postdoctoral researchers, research engineers or retired staff (excluding those with emeritus status)
   • Criteria:
     • To continue an effective research collaboration with a permanent member of the laboratory;
     • To supervise the PhD thesis of a PhD student from the laboratory.
   • Procedure :
     • Written consent from the employer is required for any association (where applicable).
2. Young researchers who have completed their PhDs at the laboratory
   • Criteria:
     • Seeking employment following the defence of one’s thesis.
   • Procedure :
     • Membership granted by the Laboratory Management until the end of the academic year following the defence;
     • The contract may be renewed for a further two years, subject to the recommendation of the laboratory council and the approval of the laboratory management
   • After these two years, the individual will be appointed as an ‘associate researcher’ in accordance with the provisions set out above.

Applications for membership should be sent by email to the LATTS Management.

In line with the policies of the relevant supervisory bodies, the LATTS can host colleagues conducting research at a foreign institution for a short research stay.

Invitation criteria and procedures:

To apply for an invitation to the laboratory, please note the following criteria and procedures:

• Criteria:
  • The application must be supported by a tenured researcher at the laboratory, who must have been contacted in advance by the candidate.
  • The candidate must provide a research project for their stay, a CV, a cover letter explaining the reason for the application and the arrangements for funding the stay.

• Procedure :
  • The application is submitted to the laboratory management by the candidate.
  • A research visit agreement must be drawn up where necessary.

An invitation to the LATTS does not commit the laboratory to paying any remuneration or providing any form of financial assistance.

Special case of visiting PhD students

PhD students wishing to be invited to the laboratory must provide a letter of recommendation from their thesis supervisor

They have the same rights, obligations and restrictions as visiting researchers.
