Alessandro PANZERI arrives at LATTS

Doctor of Architecture and Architect, he defended his thesis "Novum Monumentum. Study of New Metropolitan Monumentality" in June 2018 at the University of Paris-Est. This thesis was prepared at the IPRAUS laboratory, under the supervision of Virginie Picon-Lefebvre, co-supervised by Pierre Caye at the ENS rue d'Ulm, and co-supervised by Alberto Ferlenga at the IUAV in Venice.

This first research project examined the revival of the concept of "new monumentality," which originated in the Modern Movement, within the International Consultation on Greater Paris (CIGP) of 2008-2009.

This thesis aimed to explore the foundations of this concept in the 1940s, its diverse fortunes during the second half of the 20th century, its reactivation/transformation within the CIGP, and its possible implementation in today's Paris metropolitan area.
This research was based on the work carried out within the IGP collective during multi-year symposiums and on the mechanisms put in place on the website. The hypotheses and research methods used by the IGP program greatly informed my thinking during my doctoral studies.
