International Geography Festival (FIG) in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges

The 35th edition of FIG will be held on October 4, 5, and 6, 2024, in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges

Claire Simonneau is a member of the scientific committee for this year's edition, which is dedicated to the theme of "Earth." She will lead a round table discussion entitled "Building the cities of the future with earth" on Sunday, October 6, at 9 a.m.

Martine Drozdz will also present her book "Nos lieux communs" (Our Common Places) on Saturday, October 5, at 5:30 p.m.

"It has become a tradition in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges to devote the first weekend of October to geography. For this 35th edition, the Alps will be in the spotlight. This great mountain range, which links different European countries, offers many assets, starting with its landscapes and natural sites, which we must preserve. The theme of "land" will guide us throughout these three days. This "land," a playground for geographers, will be explored in all its forms. I would like to welcome festival-goers, authors, geographers, and academics who are discovering or rediscovering our city. I would like to thank all those who bring the festival to life: sponsors, partners, volunteers, city and metropolitan services, and of course the "figueuses," who work behind the scenes all year round to make this event a success. The FIG comprises several exhibition halls, reception areas, exhibition spaces, conference rooms, restaurants, and entertainment venues… there's plenty to enjoy without getting bored all weekend long. Have a great FIG, everyone!"
