Public sector employees and private sector employees facing change
L'Harmattan, 2016, 330 p. (Coll. Conception et dynamique des organisations)

The public and private sectors are often pitted against each other, giving rise to controversies in which each takes the other as an example not to follow. However, both sectors have been undergoing significant changes for several decades. The aim of this book is first and foremost to report on these changes. Technology, organization, management—everything is changing in both sectors, and there are many more similarities than one might imagine. The book then seeks to analyze the dynamics of change specific to each sector. Statistical approaches and field studies are used in conjunction with each other in order to compare their results. The perspective is resolutely multidisciplinary, focusing on economics and sociology. The book shows that, in neither sector, can change happen without costs or tension. For employees, the first question is how they can reorganize their work while preserving their professional identity and finding sources of satisfaction.
