Meetings "Water at the heart of change" Accelerating to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

Agathe Euzen Co-organizes and will speak at these meetings on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 (Agence Française de Développement, Paris)

The ambition behind the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 on water, commits us to thinking and acting collectively to end persistent inequalities and the degradation of our environment. Population growth, urbanization, increased vulnerabilities, and the risks of drought and flooding linked to climate change: in this context of global change, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs.

How can we encourage decision-makers to make the SDGs a political priority at both the local and global levels? How are local actors working to contribute to the SDGs? How can we encourage changes in corporate practices and behaviors to better preserve this essential resource?

The "Water at the Heart of Change" meetings, jointly organized by AFD, PFE, and CNRS on June 26 in Paris, will bring together high-level figures for a day of reflection where local actors, whether citizens, managers, decision-makers, researchers, or elected officials, will take turns questioning our individual and collective abilities to engage in a dynamic of change, sharing real-life "stories" from different regions in order to finally identify levers that can accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
