Inventing Greater Paris, Seminar 2022

Coordinated by Nathalie Roseau
, Frédéric Pousin,
and Yoko Mizuma
, the 2022 research seminar of the Transversal Group "Inventing Greater Paris" continues its reflections on the intertwined histories of metropolises, turning this year to Asia from a transnational perspective. The first study day in the spring will be devoted to the exchange of expertise between France and China (particularly Shanghai). The second, in the fall, will focus on the issue of public parks in metropolitan areas, comparing Greater Paris and Greater Tokyo. The group is also continuing its work in close collaboration with other Transversal groups within Labex. As part of the "Open City, Closed City" cycle initiated by the "Uses of History and Urban Futures" group, the March seminar, organized at the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, will address the issue of the traces and legacies left over time by debates around urban and metropolitan boundaries. Also involving the "Urban Production and Markets" group, the discussion on growth coalitions in metropolitan planning will continue, focusing on the examples of Disney in Val d'Europe and Anaheim in California.

The seminar venues (on-site and/or online) will be specified at a later date. A publication of the oral presentations will be posted on the website www.inventerlegrandparis.fr
. Section: IGP Seminar.
