Bio

Alex Mademochoritis has been a doctoral candidate at LATTS since November 2023 within the CLEAR-Doc programme (MSCA-COFUND), under the supervision of Jonathan Rutherford and Martine Drozdz. His research explores the socio-technical dimensions of urban heat and the ways in which it is problematised, addressed and materialised in urban action, falling within the field of climate urbanism and studying the interactions between infrastructure, urban practices and social issues related to heat. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture and Design from the University of West Attica (Athens) and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning & Data Analytics jointly awarded by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in Barcelona, where he also lived for several years and worked at the IAAC in coordination, administrative, and teaching roles before joining LATTS. Alongside his research, he created and hosts the podcast The Masterplan, dedicated to discussions about cities, culture, society and technologies.
