Project overview

The ADEME-funded ENRICO project (Survey and Scenarios of Residential Behaviour for Modelling Energy, Water and Comfort Consumption) aims to improve the representation of domestic behaviour in tools used to simulate occupants’ energy, water and comfort consumption. The central issue stems from the observation that current models often take a simplified view of housing occupancy and usage, even though these factors constitute a major source of variability and uncertainty in the assessment of consumption and comfort.

The scientific objective of the project is to develop an innovative, robust and open-source digital simulation tool for generating usage scenarios, capable of:

  • Modelling household behaviour on an hourly basis over a full year.
  • Incorporating recent changes in lifestyles (working from home, energy efficiency, adaptation to energy prices, etc.).
  • Manage and characterise the uncertainty associated with usage patterns in the simulations.
  • Provide a comprehensive and robust representation of the diversity of household behaviour.
