Victor Maghin arrives at LATTS

Victor Maghin graduated in sociology from the University of Lille after completing a Master's degree in "Sociology and Anthropology of Urban Issues" at the same university. Prior to that, he studied sociology at the University of Bordeaux. As part of his Master's degree, he wrote a thesis last year on the adaptation of administrations to digital developments. His field of research was in Bordeaux. He worked on this issue at LATTS under the supervision of Gilles Jeannot as part of a more comprehensive study conducted by the "smart city" group.

Victor Maghin is beginning a thesis on automated image processing and its possible implications for governmentality under the supervision of Gilles Jeannot. This thesis will seek to examine the composition of facial recognition and machine-assisted verbalization algorithms, to understand the relationships between agents and these technologies, and the networks that contribute to the installation of these technologies in urban environments. An underlying question runs through this work: how is governmentality changing as a result of the installation of these technologies in our environments?
